Based in Dursley, Gloucestershire, and with over thirty years personal training experience, I am confident I can support you in achieving your fitness goals.
I have experience working with a wide variety of clients, including the elderly, those with injuries, chronic pain, long-term illness, confidence or motivation issues, or weight loss.
I have worked in health and fitness since graduating with a BA (Honours) in Human Movement in 1990. I graduated with a Masters in Exercise and Health Science at Bristol University in 1997, where my dissertation involved working with people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), assessing the influence of exercise on their mobility and strength. In 2003, I gained the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Personal Trainer qualification, one of the most advanced global personal training qualifications.
Since 1993 I have been working as a personal trainer, during which time I have gained experience with all ages, from 15 to 90 years. I have worked with clients suffering with Parkinson’s disease, dementia, osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes, MS, chronic back pain, ante- and post-natal women, as well as those who just wish to improve on their current level of fitness. I enjoy keeping abreast of current health research, and I regularly study relevant courses to achieve credits to maintain my qualification with ACE.
Recent courses I have completed include;
· Senior Fitness Specialist
· Pain-free movement specialist
· Fundamentals of spine, neck and hip health
· Exercise and Parkinson’s Disease
· Training females through different life stages
· Bone building exercises for your clients
· Nutrition for women; menopause & beyond
· Lower back injury prevention and rehab
· Applied Fitness Psychology
I am a member of FitPro and have fully comprehensive insurance and up-to-date first aid certification.
In my youth, I ran competitively for Westbury Harriers and Bristol Athletic Club for 20 years, and retired in 2000. I still enjoy running, hill walking, cycling and being a Mum of two boys.
Regularly updating my theoretical knowledge and practical skills to benefit you.
Thirty years working as a personal trainer, in both gyms and home settings.
Much of my focus is in working with older clients and/or those with health conditions.
